The Dreamcatcher
The Dreamcatcher is a device created to encourage users to gather, categorize, and reflect on their dreams through documentation, integrated into a piece of furniture that motivates continuous collection of dreams throughout different stages of life.

Overview
The Dreamcatcher was created for 3 Days of Design 2026, based on the exhibition theme “Collecting.” The project explores how we process our dreams and how they can be given a physical presence in everyday life. By giving dreams a material expression, they become a tool for memory, reflection, and new interpretations. The object is an interactive piece of furniture where the user records their dreams through a microphone. A Raspberry Pi runs custom-developed software that records the audio, transcribes it using a local AI model, and prints the dream onto a receipt that is collected inside the box. Over time, a personal archive of memories is created — one that can be opened and revisited, creating opportunities to discover patterns, recall periods of life, and reflect on one’s well-being. The project has been entirely developed, engineered, and manufactured by me. I have been responsible for the concept, design, programming, and electronics, as well as the complete construction, fabrication, and assembly. The machine is built around a laser-cut acrylic structure with custom-designed and 3D-printed components, hand-shaped spiral cables, and a specially made microphone. The furniture is crafted from ash wood and mounted on a steel structure with turned metal details.
